Museum Burg Zug
Zug Castle is a landmark of the city. In the Middle Ages, the Lenzburgs, Kyburgs and Habsburgs lived there. Then rich Zug citizens. Today the castle is open to the public. It houses the historical museum of the canton of Zug. The winding castle on the edge of Zug's old town is the oldest secular building still standing in the town of Zug and one of its landmarks. Once a medieval seat of power, later the representative residence of important Zug families, Zug's historical museum has been housed in the castle since 1983. It offers visitors a variety of exhibition themes in the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions on current topics with an accompanying calendar of events, a wide range of guided tours, special offers and workshops for children and school classes, and seasonal events. In 2017, Museum Burg Zug was nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award.
